The Blue Christmas Campaign, which is now in its 10th edition, began as an anecdote between Dr. Avelino Veit (campaign creator) and a friend who was the manager of an orphanage. At that time, he asked for help to provide Christmas gifts to the children and due to Dr. Veit’s admiration for the blue color the friend suggested to organize a completely innovative celebration! The Blue Christmas!

The anecdote became a reality and, thanks to the support of patients, friends and employees of the clinic, the campaign already exceeded expectations in its first year. The fund helped the orphanage and also two other social entities. Since then, the Campaign became a vital social responsible commitment, with the objective of promoting a Happy Christmas to children and elderly people who do not have a family.

That said, on every Christmas Dr. Veit’s staff, collaborators, sponsors, blue volunteers and the famous Blue Santa Claus team up for this cause. As a result, we have collected thousands of toys for children who anxiously wait for this big moment all year round. At the end of 2009 we provided not only toys but also oral hygiene kits to over 1.000 kids, composed of: 01 beauty case, 04 tooth brushes, 01 tooth paste e 01 dental floss for usage in 2010. Bearing in mind that every toothbrush has a 3-month length life time, the kit provides products enough to have a perfect oral hygiene all year round. At the party on the day of the delivery, Dr. Veit’s team teaches the children the proper way of flossing and brushing their teeth.

Our goal: to continue giving love and kindness to orphan children signed up for the project, to their relatives and to all the community not only during the magical moment of Christmas but also during other months of the year. The Blue Christmas campaign has been transformed in a great social project in which specialized dentists can provide Fluor application and also teach children and their relatives about the importance of personal and oral hygiene. By doing so, we develop their self-care, confidence and self-esteem, helping them to become citizens who will love themselves and seek success and dignity.

Consequently, we also encourage other Brazilian companies to develop social projects in different segments so, together; we can struggle for better conditions in the country.
